چکیده

The reintroduction of the extinct beluga sturgeon (Huso huso L.), an anadromous species with economic and traditional relevance, is a priority in next conservation strategies Northern Italy. EU-LIFE NATURA project aims to reintroduce Po River basin through captive breeding program. Critical requirements for success program are river connectivity knowledge genetic diversity selected broodstocks ensure self-sustainability reintroduced populations. Here, four used have been genetically screened, genotyping 13 loci sequencing mitochondrial DNA cytochrome b (Cyt b) gene entire control region (D-Loop). showed medium-high level nuclear variability presence two sub-populations, evidencing total inbreeding coefficients able sustain good potential as future breeders. Mitochondrial analyses comparable wild populations, further strengthening positive investigated broodstock. Therefore, this study, how degree found within H. could be suitable program, avoiding depression associated founder effect breeding.

Cryopreservation of Beluga (Huso huso) Sperm: Effect of Different C

Semen obtained from four Beluga males (Huso huso) was cryopreserved using extender; Tris-sucroseKCl (30mM Tris, 23.4mM sucrose, 0.25mM KCl, PH 8.0) supplemented with MeOH at concentration of 5%, 10% and 20%. Semen was diluted, respectively, with ratios of 1:0.5, 1:1 and 1:2 with extender and frozen in liquid nitrogen vapor.Frozen sperms after 30 and 60 days were excluded from freezing. Experime...

Effect of freezing rate on motility, adenosine triphosphate content and fertilizability in beluga sturgeon (Huso huso) spermatozoa.

Broodstock selection programs are currently underway for sturgeon species. To complement and further these selection programs we need to develop sperm cryopreservation procedures. In the present study, we describe the effects of freezing rate (-10°C, -15°C, -20°C, -30°C and -40°C/min) on gamete quality characteristics (i.e., duration of motility (s), motility percentage (%), ATP content (nmol/1...

Mineral Status of Juvenile Beluga (Huso huso) Fed Citric Acid Supplemented Diets

A study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary citric acid (CA) (0, 1, 2 and 3%) on the Calcium(Ca) and Phosphorus(P) content of muscle, scute and serum of Beluga (Huso huso) juveniles (25.1±1.9 g). After 8 weeks feeding on the experimental diets, Calcium(Ca) and Phosphorus(P) content of muscle, scute and serum were measured. The results revealed that addition with 2% and 3% CA sig...

Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis infection in Bester sturgeon, a cultured hybrid of Huso huso × Acipenser ruthenus, in Taiwan.

Approximately 5300 hybrid sturgeons with an average body weight of 600-800 g were farmed in 3 round tankers measuring 3m in diameter each containing 28,000 L of aerated groundwater. According to the owner's description, the diseased fish had anorexia, pale body color, and reddish spots on the abdomen. The morbidity and lethality rates in this outbreak were about 70% (3706/5300) and 100% (3706/3...
